Our Origin Story
Why we built LiliDate
LiliDate began with a conversation between two friends in their late fifties - one widowed, one divorced - who were trying, and failing, to date again.
Our founders kept hearing the same complaints from men in their age group. The dating apps felt like nightclubs they did not belong in. Profiles were paper-thin. Photos looked like they belonged on a magazine cover, not a Tuesday-night dinner. And whenever a real connection felt possible, it would vanish into a sea of swipes.
So in 2023, we set out to build the platform our friends actually needed. One designed for adults who have lived a little. One where verified women in their forties, fifties, and sixties join specifically to meet men like you. One built around clear, plainspoken profiles instead of vanishing photo grids. Three years later, LiliDate is what those late-night conversations were imagining.

The name LiliDate comes from "lily" - a flower that, in American gardening tradition, represents devotion and renewed life. It felt right for what we hoped the platform would help people find.

Built by a small American team that takes mature dating seriously
LiliDate is operated by a 42-person team headquartered in Burlington, Vermont, with safety and support staff in Austin, Texas. We are independently owned - not part of a global dating conglomerate - which means we answer only to our members.
Our co-founders, Daniel Hayes and Margaret Boone, are both 50+ themselves. Our head of safety spent 14 years investigating online fraud before joining LiliDate. Our product designers test every feature with members aged 55 to 72 because we know what looks good on a 28-year-old's screen does not always read well on a 60-year-old's phone.
Plain truth: we are not the biggest dating site on the internet, and we are not trying to be. We would rather have 200,000 members who genuinely want what we offer than 20 million who do not.
